The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said it will appeal the decision of Plateau State High Court to discharge and acquit former governor of the state, Jonah Jang, and an ex-cashier in the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Yusuf Pam, of allegations of N6.3bn fraud.
The anti-graft agency stated this in a statement on its verified Twitter handle by its Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren.
In the statement titled, ‘Alleged N6.3bn fraud: EFCC to appeal Jonah Jang, Pam’s acquittal’, the agency stated that it had initiated processes for an appeal immediately.

Jang and Pam were on Friday discharged and acquitted of the 17 counts preferred against them.

The statement read, “The attention of the EFCC has been drawn to the Friday, September 2, 2022 judgment of Justice C. L. Dabup of the Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos discharging and acquitting a former governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah Jang, and a former cashier in the OSSG, Yusuf Pam, of the 17 counts bordering on criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of Plateau State funds to the tune of N6.3bn.
“The commission has initiated processes for an appeal, immediately.”
Jang and Pam were arraigned by the EFCC on a 17 -count charge of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of public funds.
