The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered a financial trail linking $300,000 to a suspected internet fraudster recently apprehended in Auchi, Edo State.
In an official statement shared via its Facebook page on Tuesday, the anti-graft agency confirmed that the suspect was among 35 individuals arrested on Sunday, May 4, 2025, during a raid in the Sabo Iyako area of Auchi.
The operation was carried out following credible intelligence linking the suspects to various forms of online fraud.

Providing further details, the EFCC disclosed: “As a ‘picker’ or ‘azaman’ in internet fraud lingo, investigations revealed that the suspect has collected and laundered over $300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) for his syndicate members who are at large.”
In addition to internet-related fraud, the suspect is also believed to be involved in fraudulent investment schemes and banking-related scams.
“He will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded,” the Commission added.
