Eguavoen Steps Down As Super Eagles Coach After AFCON 2021 Exit | Daily Report Nigeria

Augustine Eguavoen, Super Eagles interim head coach has stepped down from the position after the team’s exit from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, 23, 2022.

Eguavoen who was a former defender was appointed as an interim head coach of the team after Gernot Rohr was sacked.

The team was said to have started off on a good note and hopes were high that Eguavoen would become the teams permanent coach.

The three-time champions however crashed out of the 2021 AFCON finals on Sunday as they were defeated.

Eguavoen while speaking to the newsmen said, “I’m the technical director of the NFF. I will go back to my job and allow the authorities to decide (who the next Super Eagles coach will be),”

It remain to be seen whether the NFF will stick with Eguavoen or adhere with the appointment of Portuguese Jose Peseiro
