Egypt and Nigeria have continued to dominate the medals table at the 13th African Games, maintaining their stronghold on the standings.

With an impressive haul of 53 gold, 21 silver, and 20 bronze medals, the North African contingent retained their position at the summit of the medals log.

Meanwhile, Nigeria secured the second spot on the standings, amassing a total of 22 gold, 10 silver, and 16 bronze medals.

However, the West African nation faces a daunting challenge in closing the gap between themselves and Egypt, given the significant disparity in medal counts between the two countries.

Nigeria’s strong performance at the ongoing 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana, mirrors their success at the previous edition in Morocco, where they also secured the second position on the podium.

The collective efforts of Nigerian athletes have resulted in a total of 127 medals, comprising 46 gold, 33 silver, and 48 bronze.

Rounding up the top five countries on the medals table are Algeria, South Africa, and Tunisia, highlighting the fierce competition among African nations vying for sporting excellence on the continental stage.
