Egypt once again dominated the piste at the 23rd African Fencing Championships in Lagos, winning five of the six individual gold medals.

After earning bronze in 2023 and silver in 2024, Abdelrahman Tolba finally captured men’s foil gold by beating defending champion Mohamed Hamza 15-10, having earlier dispatched Victor Alvares of Cape Verde 15-4.

Meanwhile, Alanoud Hegazy claimed her first continental sabre title with a 15-8 victory over Nada Hafez, after edging past Lorina Essomba 15-10 and Chaima Benadouda 15-9.

In the women’s épée final, Kenya’s Alexandra Ndolo recorded a dominant 15-8 victory over Egypt’s Shirwit Gaber.
Meanwhile , Ndolo’s victory terminated Egypt’s clean sweep and underscored the growing power of African fencing.
With individual medals decided, the team events on June 28–29 will pit Egypt against Tunisia, Algeria, and South Africa in crucial Olympic qualification showdowns.
