Ehie: No Court Order Restrained Sole Administrator’s Resumption, Denies Rumour

Rivers State government has denied rumours claiming that a High court stopped Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas from resuming official duties.

A statement made by Dr. Edison Ehie said the rumours were perpetuated by trouble makers seeking the downfall of Rivers State.

The Chief of Staff to the suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Dr Edison Ehie, has debunked rumours circulating online that the state government obtained a court injunction to prevent Sole Administrator Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas (rtd) from resuming duties.

The claim which was making since yesterday’s evening rumoured that the Rivers State High Court issued an order preventing the newly appointed Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), from resuming at his duty post.

However in a statement signed and published on Thursday, Dr.Ehie refuted the claims and described the reports as false. He said it’s an attempt by “low minds” to escalate the already tensed political atmosphere in the Rivers State.

He said, ” My attention has been drawn to an obvious fake news being spread on social media by delusional minds, who are bent on continuing to aggravate the already tensed political atmosphere in the state.”

“Certain individuals are spreading misinformation that I secured an order from the Rivers State High Court preventing the Sole Administrator from assuming office at Government House, Port Harcourt.”

“The malicious post claimed that an alleged order was granted in a fictitious suit I purportedly filed challenging “the Presidential Pronouncement of State of Emergency in Rivers State” as “unconstitutional”.

Dr. Ehie refuted the claims, vehemently described it as the the work of troublemaker and baseless social media rants.

“Ordinarily, I would ignore such baseless social media rants from troublemakers seeking to create disaffection. However, to prevent the public from being misled, I must set the record straight. Even the originators of this falsehood couldn’t spell my name correctly or provide any credible legal details regarding the supposed lawsuit,”

He continued, “It is important I advise the general public and particularly the good people of Rivers State to discountenance this baseless, false and malicious post, as it is intended to create bad blood among the people while painting me as a non-conformist.

“I have since decided to be law-abiding and conduct my affairs peacefully in accordance with the law, holding strong to my faith and God, and has no intention to act in any way that will present me as a disruptor.” He stated.

Dr. Ehie urged the public to disregard the claims, stating that the Rivers State government remains law-abiding and committed to obeying constituted instructions.
