Ekpan Women Protest Over Arrest of Community Chairman Astone Akemu in Delta | Daily Report Nigeria

Women in Ekpan, Uvwie local government area took to the streets on Tuesday to protest over the arrest of their community chairman, Hon Astone Stephen Akemu.

Akemu was apprehended for alleged kidnap involvement and is currently detained at the Ogwashi-uku prison.

The arrest of the community chairman has been greeted with varying reactions.

For instance, there was a heavy shooting in the community on Sunday night after he was arrested.

The women in their chant described their chairman as a ‘peacemaker and a cause of development in the community,’ demanded his unconditional release.
