Electrocution Kills Father of 2 in Bayelsa

Gunmen Invade Hospital, Rob Doctors, Patients in Bayelsa | Daily Report Nigeria

A father of two, Amas, lost his life on Friday after being electrocuted on a high-tension pole in Ekeki Police Station, Azikoro Road, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Amas, a local resident not affiliated with the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), attempted to connect clients to the federal power line due to the state’s persistent power supply issues.

Despite the risks, many residents like Amas sought to utilize the federal line, which offers a more reliable power supply of 12-13 hours daily.

Unfortunately, the incident left Amas stranded on the pole for hours until PHCN officials arrived.

The community mourns the loss of Amas, a dedicated worker and caring father.

One Micheal Orubo said:

Amas lives on our street, and most of the connection work in this area he attends to them, why has death come to him in such a way? He just left us where we were playing a chess game, and said he was coming back but never returned.

He was easygoing, who will care for the two kids he has left behind. The money he gets from these electric connections is what he manages to feed his family with.

“What manner of death is this, someone we were with throughout this period of rain, so he left to fix the connection immediately after the rain.”
