The Executive Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council Delta state, Rt Hon Godknows Angele has charged the National Association of Burutu Local Government Students to imbibe the habit of speaking the Ijaw language.
Angele often referred to as ‘Ability’ made the charge while receiving NABLOGS executives and members who paid him a courtesy visit at his administrative office in Burutu on Wednesday.
The two-time Council Chair lamented the decaying nature of the Ijaw language in the local government area, wondering how youths struggle to speak their mother tongue despite being born and brought up in their communities.

He said “Burutu is host to a single language, but it is so painful that our young ones struggle to speak the Ijaw language. Many of you can’t even give a proper response when entertained.
“I urge you to make it a habit of speaking the Ijaw language even in your meetings as a way of preserving our mother tongue,” he charged.
