#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: Bakumor Calls For Youths to Shun Protest

A Niger Delta youth leader, Comrade Ellington Bakumor, has called on youths in the region to shun the proposed #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest

The Deputy Coordinator of the Egbesu Brotherhood called on youths to be patient with the President Bola Tinubu administration owing to various projects undergoing construction in the region.

Bakumor also expressed fears over the possibility of escalating to uncontrollable anarchy by way of a predicted hijacking of the process by hoodlums.

In a statement titled “Why we should not protest or support any protest at this time in Delta State and in the Niger Delta,” Bakumor said;

Delta State, especially Warri and other environs, are undergoing serious construction works of development as we speak. Any protest that goes out of control will likely invite anarchy, hence cause delay or abandonment of projects by contractors and workers.

“The Niger Delta is regaining expatriate and foreign investors’ confidence for some time now. Any protest will only likely scare them off again.

“Other protests before now have always been hijacked by criminals. During the #ENDSARS protest, people were robbed, raped and killed. Imnocent people died. Some have not been seen or heard from till date. God forbid that we loose our lives or those of our loved ones.

“In as much as some of the issues of this protest are genuine, we cannot also deny the fact that our governments both federal and state are making positive efforts towards positive change.

“We can also not shy away from the fact that it is politically motivated by people who wish to destabilize the nation, using us in the South as pawns to fight our brothers. We did that with Goodluck Jonathan and regret it till date. Let’s not repeat that mistake once more.

“Let us have a round table discussion and conversation with the government and have a little more patience.

For the safety of our lives and those of our relatives, let us please say no to a protest that may spin out of control”, Bakumor added.
