“I know it is our right to protest, but i want us to give listening ears to our leaders irrespective of political party that has be calling for calm.

“The 1st-10th of August has been billed for a nationwide protest that has kept the country in tension due to fact that, some persons intention is for the peaceful protest to degenerate into chaos in other to put the country in a state of unrest.

“For that not to be achieved by those planning to plunge the country into crisis, prominent leaders like High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, traditional institutions and other critical stakeholders have all weighed in on the need to shun the protest.

“As we can see, the president has started addressing some of the issues that are seen to be the cause of the present hardship in the country. We should therefore give him the benefit of doubt that he means well for us.

“He is just barely a year plus in office but his dream and desire is to ensure the the people in the grassroot fill the essence of government and governance.

“Within this short period he has stayed in office, several programs and policies have been introduced to reduce the pains and hards citizens are passing through.

– Increase in minimum wage from five years to 3 years in the minimum wage negotiation

– Student loan for federal and state government higher institutions.

– Ministry of livestock to ease farmers herders crisis in other to increase food production.

– Local government financial autonomy

Series of grants will soon be released to small and medium business owners across the country in other to boost their businesses.

“Other plans and programs are in place also to cushion the hardship the country is faced with presently.

“I there use the medium to appeal to all Deltans, most especially the youths and woman to give peace a chance by shelving the nationwide protest.”
