#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: Falana Urges FG to Engage With Protesters | Daily Report Nigeria

Amid the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest across Nigeria, renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana has urged government officials to engage in dialogue with the demonstrators.

The protests, which began on August 1, 2024, and were scheduled to continue until August 10, aimed to address the country’s economic hardships, including poverty and high cost of living.

Falana, speaking on Channels Television on Thursday, stressed the need for the government to cease mobilizing youths to disrupt rallies and instead provide adequate security cover for the protesters.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria also called on security agencies to hold talks with protesters after receiving proper notification of the demonstrations.

Falana’s call for engagement comes as the police, military, and Department of State Services (DSS) have warned against Kenya-styled protests, and politicians have appealed to youths to shelve the planned rallies.

However, the protesters remained resolute in their demands for better economic conditions.
