A group under the aegis of Revamp Niger Delta Now Movement has vowed to occupy the East-West Road in the proposed #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.

In a statement on Saturday by Engr. Ebideke Atuwo – Convener and Doubra Sien – Contact Manager, the group expressed displeasure with the current state of the country, with a resolve to partake in the protest.

The statement titled END BAD GOVERNANCE IN NIGERIA 1st – 10th OF AUGUST, 2024 : WE WILL OCCUPY EAST WEST ROAD, WE ARE NOT GOING BACK”, reads;

The various calls by Politicians and Traditional Rulers to shun the organized National “EndBadGovernance” protest in Nigeria has greeted our ears with deafness.

We wish to draw the attention of the public that the protest will be observed in Bayelsa State and fully mobilized by our group with mammoth crowd who would demonstrate peacefully to vent their anger over the current hardship experienced in our beloved country.

We have already began the process and preparations are in top gear to occupy the East West Road and make it our temporal homes from 1st to 10th of August 2024, untill our demands are met.

This is not about one group or another, It is about angry and hungry Nigerians who are tired of the failed government policies. Protest is our right as enshrined in section 40 of the Nigerian Constitution as amended.

Nobody can take it away from us. We have already submitted our protest letter to the Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State and relevant authorities to avail us with the needed support for our Peaceful protest.

We are assuring the general public of a peaceful demonstration as long as security agencies are professional and government authorities abides to the provision of the law regarding citizens right to Protest and Assembly.

Our grievances and demands are clear and concise for government to tackle . Reasons prompting our protest are:

1. High cost of food commodities
2. Hike in fuel price
3. Insecurity
4. The poor state of East West Road
5. Outrageous price of electric tariff
6. Crude oil theft
7. Inflation
8. Unemployment
9. Resource control
10. Non functional refineries and Demand for modular refineries
11. The immediate need for relocation of IOCs back to the Niger Delta
12. High wage and salary of political office holders .

Finally, we are not chickened by those calling out on us to shun this protest. We have gone too far to back out, as our teaming protesters are resilience and we are gaining momentum in a blink of an eye pace.

We reiterate our stance to join the protest as East West Road will be occupied by peaceful demonstrators.
