#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria: Tinubu Told to Reduce Fuel Price to N200

Amid the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, President Bola Tinubu has been asked to reduce the pump price of fuel to N200 per litre.

The call was made on Friday by a chieftain of the Labour Party, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, who noted that the action will result to an end in the nationwide protests.

Tanko, who was the chief spokesperson of Peter Obi and Datti Baba’s Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 elections, cited the display of affluence and wasteful expenditure by politicians as part of reasons Nigerians have taken to the streets against President Tinubu’s administration.

He said: “The easiest way out of the protest that would not escalate is for the government to announce as quickly as possible that the prices of fuel have been brought down to ₦150 or ₦200 because that is the nucleus of all the trouble.

“That was the reason why Dangote came out to talk about the refusal of the federal government to sell crude oil to him to refine because, obviously, if he is refining crude oil, the prices of fuel would definitely crash.

“That was why he was saying that the cabal in the oil industry is more severe than in the political circle.

“The people are also aware that if you can be paying our legislators this humongous amount of money, if you can buy a plane for yourself, if you can build an apartment for the vice president at three times the cost of what it was initially paid for, and if you can just buy jeeps, where did you get the money from? It means you have relegated their interests.

“These are very serious and weighty allegations against the government, and they cannot run away from it. So they should feel the pain of the ordinary people by reducing the prices of fuel.”

Reduce Fuel Price, Food Stuff Cost – Giwa

The Senior Pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming Of Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa, has also urged President Tinubu to take proactive steps that would quell the protest before ‘it’s too late’.

Pastor Giwa said Tinubu should take drastic steps that would crash the price of fuel and foodstuff.

Giwa said: “President Bola Tinubu is acting as if he wasn’t in the country. History won’t forget him if he doesn’t take a proactive step now to drastically bring down the prices of Petroleum and foodstuffs.

“I hope by now, a true democrat would have addressed Nigerians. Don’t handle the current situation with levity; act now before it’s too late.

“Please heed to my advice, very quickly. You were part of the people who fought for democracy, and you should not be the one to mess it up.

“The people are crying for help, justice, equity, and fairness. It doesn’t cost you anything to declare all land borders open. It doesn’t cost you anything to bring down the prices of foodstuffs and petroleum.

“Don’t allow the devil to harden your heart. I know you mean well for Nigerians, but act now before it’s too late. Put your political enemies to shame and make Nigerians happy.”
