The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has declared that no protest should hold at the Lekki Toll Gate on Saturday, February 13.
This comes after some Nigerians on Tuesday, February 9, used the hashtag #OccupyLekkiTollGate to announce plans of fresh protests over plans by the Lagos State Government and Lekki Concession Company (LCC) to reopen the controversial Toll Gate.
The Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry had on Saturday, February 6, gave permission to the LCC to take over the toll gate and resume operations.

The Lagos Lekki Toll Gate had been shut since October, 2020, after the gunshot incidents that reportedly left some #EndSARS protesters dead and injured.
While the #OccupyLekkiTollGate proponents were making plans for their protest, another group using the hashtag #DefendLagos announced plans to hold a counter-protest at same Lekki Toll Gate.
Announcing the development, Odumosu while speaking to newsmen said;
“Allowing both groups to carry out their planned protests will be counter-productive. No protest in any guise will be allowed to take place on Saturday 13th February 2021.”
