David Mark now leads interim ADC structure as new opposition force gathers momentum
The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr Ralph Nwosu, has announced that he and all members of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) have stepped down to allow Senator David Mark take over as interim national leader.
Mr Nwosu made the announcement on Wednesday during a public address in Abuja, where he declared that the move was aimed at repositioning the party for national redemption and not merely for power pursuit.
In his words, “My welcome address today, I titled it ‘Beyond Politics and Power.’ We must commit to moving Nigeria from the ICU to global reckoning. It’s not about seeking power. We have the capacity.”

He revealed that the transition followed over a year of internal consultations and NEC deliberations.
“This journey started 18 months ago. When we were consulted, we said we’ve been consulting too. ADC has always believed in coalition,” he added.

According to Mr Nwosu, all NEC members unanimously agreed to resign in favour of the emerging coalition led by Senator Mark. “A day like this shows that we are ready to sacrifice anything for Nigeria,” he said.
The high-level political gathering, which held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, drew stakeholders from across party lines, including members of the Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Organisers were earlier forced to relocate the event from the Wells Carlton Hotel in Asokoro, Abuja, following the hotel management’s last-minute decision to withdraw due to unspecified compliance reasons.
