East African Runners Dominate the 42km Race at the Enugu City International Marathon 2025
In the headline 42km race of the Enugu City International Marathon 2025, East African athletes took center stage.
Kenyan runner Ken Kopos clinched the top prize, finishing in 2:22:32 and taking home $15,000.
He was closely followed by fellow Kenyans Steve Baswey and Bernard Sang, who finished second and third, earning $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.
Women’s Elite Results: Kenyan Runners Shine Again
East African dominance continued in the women’s elite division, with Shaoline Chepriroi of Kenya claiming first place with a time of 2:44:37.
Ethiopian runner Tilahu Birul secured second place at 2:45:10, while Kenya’s Rita Busiengy finished third with a time of 2:47:17, earning $10,000 and $5,000.

Nigerian runners also showcased impressive performances at the Enugu City International Marathon 2025.
Blessing Shambo emerged as Nigeria’s fastest female runner, finishing fourth overall in the women’s elite race with a time of 2:48:04. She earned ₦1 million.
On the men’s side, Davou Gyang led the local contingent, finishing with a time of 2:29:03, securing ₦1 million.
