Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that defender Ben Chilwell will be returning to the squad.

The England international is set to make his first appearance of the season during Tuesday’s Carabao Cup match against League Two leaders Barrow.

Chilwell appeared likely to leave Stamford Bridge over the summer after Maresca indicated that he had no future with the club.

However, in a change of circumstances, the manager has now decided to include the left-back in the matchday squad following his return to first-team training.

“Ben Chilwell will be in the squad for tomorrow’s game,” Maresca stated. “He’s been training, and we’re hopeful we can give him some minutes.”
