EPL: Cristiano Ronaldo Behind Tuchel’s sack at Chelsea

The UK Telegraph has reported that Thomas Tuchel’s refusal to issue a green light for Cristiano Ronaldo to be signed from Manchester United caused the former’s sack.

Reports were rife that Blues owner, Todd Boehly, was willing to bring in the 37-year-old this summer.

Ronaldo was desperate to leave United and move to Stamford Bridge, as Champions League football was on offer.

However, Tuchel rejected the chance to bring in the five-time Ballon d’Or.

This led to an early difference of opinion with Boehly’s unwillingness to take ‘no’ for an answer.

Tuchel, however, was irked at having to explain his reasons for rejecting Ronaldo.

The German was ultimately sacked on Wednesday morning, a day after a 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
