EPL: Lampard, Gerrard Not Fit to Be Premier League Coaches – Jordan

Simon Jordan, the former co-founder of the car magazine Octane has said the duo of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard lack competency to coach in the Premier League.

Liverpool legend, Gerrard left Rangers in the Scottish side after being appointed as Aston Villa manager whereas the Chelsea legend, Lampard withdrew from contending as the new Norwich City coach.

The Yellows have therefore appointed the sacked Aston Villa manager, Dean Smith as the new survival of Daniel Farke who was axed more than a week ago.

Lampard who was relieved of his duty at Chelsea in January of this month after 18 months of being in charge has been between jobs since then.

However, the former owner of Crystal Palace, Jordan brushed aside the opinions that Lampard should have been offered the position after Dean’s appointment.

The 53-year-old told talkSPORT: “The tragedy for Frank is he’ s got no backdrop for suggesting he’s a Premier League manager.”

“The Chelsea side he inherited with a group of young players did ok, and then when he was on top in the Premier League which is when you spend money, out the door he went.”

“I don’ t think he [Gerrard] has the credentials either.”

“Either one of these guys would walk through the door, if they were Joe Schmo from nowhere, not Frank Lampard, and not Steven Gerrard, they would never ever get these opportunities because they don’t merit them.”

Jordan added:“Steven Gerrard you know who he is, Frank Lampard you know who he is. They both talk very well, they’ ve both got good backgrounds, they both seem to be very sensible, but neither of them has been at the top table for winning anything significant.”

“I know the SPFL is significant in Scotland, but in real terms, it’s [Gerrard’s former role] not going to compare to the job in hand at Aston Villa.”
