Manchester United have displayed interest in signing River Plate striker, Julian Alvarez.

The Red Devils have thus opened talks to bring the 21-year-old to Old Trafford.

According to Argentine newspaper, Ole Gunner Solkjaer had previously communicated with Los Millonarios over a possible transfer for the Argentinian.

Recently, United also joined in the pursuit of Alvarez and have telephoned him in the last few weeks.

Alvarez’s outstanding form since the start of this season has appealed to many giant clubs in Europe including Juventus, Bayern Munich and Athletico Madrid.

He has registered 24 goals and 15 assists in 46 matches for the Stripe so far.

Meanwhile, River Plate coach, Marcelo Gallardo is determined to keep the star.

However, the striker will be allowed to find the exit door from the Monumental Stadium at a release fee of £17 million to be increased to £21 million in the last ten days of the January transfer window.
