EPL: Van de Beek Tells Lampard His Preferred Position

Everton midfielder, Donny van de Beek has told Everton coach, Frank Lampard his favorite position.

The former Ajax player revealed he likes to play in the League as a number eight.

Meanwhile, the versatile player played as a No. 8 behind Hakim Ziyech in 2019-20 even though he has predominantly played as a No. 10 in the previous season.

The 24-year-old was loaned to Everton from Red Devils last month.

One of the best players during his time at Ajax has not been able to find his feet since moving to Old Trafford from Ajax in 2020.

Van de Beek who had an outstanding spell at Ajax has been finding life difficult since he joined the Premier League side as he has not found playing time like he did where he was signed from.

The Dutchman was listed among the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or while at Joden.

Van de Beek told Everton’s official website: “I think I can play in different positions and I like to play in the Premier League as a number eight, box-to-box.”

“The manager wants me to bring some quality with the ball, to link up in midfield.”

“He expects a lot from me and I expect a lot from myself. I am really happy with the first two weeks.”

The player will now hope to be in action for Lampard’s side when they have a League’s clash with Southampton on Saturday.
