Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is planning a move for former Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt, who is facing an uncertain future at Bayern Munich, according to Sky Germany.
With Ten Hag’s position at Old Trafford secure, he is focusing on strengthening his squad for the upcoming season, particularly the defense, after conceding 58 goals last season.
Raphael Varane has already left, and Jonny Evans could also depart this summer. Additionally, both Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez have struggled with injuries in recent seasons.
Bayern Munich is willing to let De Ligt go as they undergo their own defensive overhaul under new manager Vincent Kompany. Bayern has already signed Hiroki Ito from VfB Stuttgart and is targeting Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jonathan Tah.
