Ex-AGF Nwabuoku Granted N500m Bail in N1.96bn Fraud Case

  •  The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Accountant-General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Anamekwe Nwabuoku, bail in the sum of N500 million.
  • He faces charges of alleged N1.96 billion fraud and was re-arraigned on an amended nine-count charge of money laundering and abuse of office.
  • Justice James Omotosho stipulated that Nwabuoku’s bail be secured with two sureties, each providing a guarantee of N500 million.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Accountant-General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Anamekwe Nwabuoku, bail in the sum of N500 million.

Nwabuoku faces charges of alleged N1.96 billion fraud and was re-arraigned on an amended nine-count charge of money laundering and abuse of office.

Justice James Omotosho, in his ruling, stipulated that Nwabuoku’s bail be secured with two sureties, each providing a guarantee of N500 million.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had re-arraigned Nwabuoku on the amended charges, accusing him of conspiring with four companies to convert funds derived from unlawful activities.

Clarification: AGF’s Audit report not for the current PAP Administration

The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has issued a statement clarifying that the Auditor-General of the Federation’s audit report, which highlighted alleged infractions in managing funds, does not relate to the current administration.

The report, which was published by Sahara Reporters and some other media organizations noted that the Presidential Amnesty Programme had illegally withdrawn over N6 billion and paid tuition for students without records.
