Ex-Delta Councillor Arrested For Alleged Kidnap Plot | Daily Report Nigeria

The police force in Delta state have arrested a former Councillor over suspected kidnap plots.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the ex-councillor, identified as Ndubisi Okechhukwu had represented Emu-Uno in the Kwale Local Government Area of Delta State.

Confirming the arrest, the state PRO, SP Bright Edafe, in a statement released on Sunday, October 27, 2024, noted that the suspect was arrested following credible intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer, Abbi Division, Florence Onum.

He added that the report of an attempted kidnap of a prominent woman in the Abbi community.

The statement reads;

“Acting on this intelligence, the DPO, Kwale, and operatives of the division, embarked on a discreet investigation, and on October 21, 2024, at about 1900hrs, one Hon. Ndubisi Okechhukwu, a two-times councillor in Emu-Uno, Kwale, was arrested,” 

“He further stated that he wanted to kidnap the said woman so that the Local Government would pay the ransom since he knew the woman was close to the local government chairman.”
