Former Nigerian oil minister Diezani Alison-Madueke was caught on video walking out of a London courtroom on Monday as her bribery and corruption trial resumed following a one-week break.

The trial continued at Southwark Crown Court, where Alison-Madueke appeared in a blue trouser suit and sat quietly in the dock as prosecutors presented fresh evidence against her.

British prosecutor Alexandra Heal laid out pages of emails, text messages, and other documents alleged to link the former minister to corrupt dealings.

According to SaharaReporters, Alison-Madueke appeared visibly unsettled when the prosecution requested audio equipment to play a recorded conversation between her and Nigerian oil businessman Olajide Omokore.

The moment reportedly caused a noticeable shift in her composure as the court prepared to listen to the audio evidence.

As proceedings ended for the day, Alison-Madueke exited the courtroom without addressing journalists or onlookers. A bystander was heard asking how she felt about “corrupting Nigeria,” but she offered no response.

She walked straight past the crowd and entered a waiting Mercedes-Benz saloon car, leaving the area in silence.

Alison-Madueke, born on 6 December 1960, previously served as Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation and later rose to become the first female president of OPEC.

Her trial is expected to continue in the coming days as prosecutors press forward with their case.
