• Buhari in UK since April for medical treatment
• Sources confirm he was moved out of ICU last week
• No official word yet from Nigerian government
Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is currently receiving medical treatment in the United Kingdom, raising fresh concerns about his health.
Buhari, 82, reportedly left Nigeria in April 2025 for what was initially described as a routine health check, but family sources say his condition worsened shortly after his arrival in London.
He was placed in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) last week before being stabilised and moved out, sources told newsmen.
The former president’s prolonged absence from Nigeria has fuelled speculation about his ability to return soon. Buhari has not been back in the country since April.

During his presidency (2015–2023), Buhari was frequently criticised for seeking medical care abroad, including a stretch between 2016 and 2017 when he spent over 100 days in London for treatment.
At present, the exact nature of Buhari’s illness and the London hospital providing care have not been disclosed.
A close uncle and confidant, Mamman Daura, is also said to be receiving medical care in London.
