Ex-Speaker Patricia Etteh, Arrested by EFCC Over N240m NDDC Contract | Daily Report Nigeria

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Etteh has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
over allegation of fraud involving a Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) contract worth N240m.

She was arrested on Tuesday May 17, by the anti-graft agency in Abuja for questioning.

The former speaker was said to have received N130m through her personal account from Phil Jin Project Limited, a firm which was awarded a N240m contract by the NDDC in 2011.

According to officials of the EFCC, Etteh had been unable to explain why the firm transferred N130m to her.

Etteh was elected Speaker in 2007, but resigned a few months later amid allegations of financial misappropriation and was replaced by Dimeji Bankole.
