Ezekiel Nathaniel wins Diamond League after powering to his first Diamond League title at Lausanne on Wednesday, stopping the clock at 48.08 in the men’s 400m hurdles.

Nathaniel powered over the final barrier, held his form and edged American Trevor Bassitt (48.14). Slovenia’s Ian Matic Gucek finished third (49.23).
The win marks a clear career milestone for Nathaniel and gives him momentum as the season builds toward the World Championships in Tokyo this September.
Fans and selectors will watch him closely after this breakthrough.
Meanwhile, Favour Ofili ran well on a rain-soaked track and took second in the 200m in 22.31, just behind American Brittany Brown (22.23).
Côte d’Ivoire’s Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith posted a season best of 22.37 for third.
By contrast, Tobi Amusan struggled in the 100m hurdles and placed fifth in 12.82.
Nadine Visser won in a season-best 12.45, followed by Masai Russell (12.53) and Ditaji Kambundji (12.54); Ackera Nugent clocked 12.57 for fourth.
Overall, Lausanne produced a mixed day for Nigeria: a breakthrough for Nathaniel and a solid run by Ofili, plus a reminder that even the best can have off days while fine-tuning for major events.
