According to a palace source who confirmed his demise, the Olubadan reportedly died at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo state.

2. Former Osun Governor – Anthony Obi

Colonel Anthony Uzoma Obi (rtd), a former military administrator of Osun State, died on Saturday, January 1.

Obi served as the military governor of Osun State between August 1996 and August 1998.

His death was announced by his family.

According to sources, Fadare II died on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Olupona is the headquarters of Ayedire South Local Development Area of Osun State.

5. First Female Deputy Speaker of Lagos Assembly – Adetoun Adediran

Honorable Adetoun Adediran, a former Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly died early morning, on Wednesday, January 5.

Adediran was the first elected female Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and served between 1999 and 2003.

6. Juju Music Legend – Dayo Kujore

Legendary Nigerian Juju music maestro, Dayo Kujore died on Monday, January 10, 2022.

The musician’s demise was confirmed by his daughter, Ayinke Kujore.

Dayo Kujore was one of the most famous juju musicians in Nigeria during his prime.

He was born in the Robiyan area of Ogun State on April 4, 1958.

7. Former Nigerian President – Ernest Shonekan

Former Nigerian interim president, Chief Ernest Shonekan is dead.

Daily Report Nigeria can recall that the late Shonekan headed the Interim National Government that succeeded the junta of General Ibrahim Babangida.

He died in Lagos, aged 85.

Shonekan served as interim head of the Nigerian Government between August 26 and November 17, 1993, before being ousted in a coup led by late General Sani Abacha.

8. Former Oyo State Governor – Alao-Akala

Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, a former Governor of Oyo State, died in the early hours of Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Alao- Akala who is from Ogbomoso served as governor of Oyo state between 2007 and 2011.

9. President Buhari’s Campaign Coordinator – Danladi Pasali

The Coordinator of President Muhammadu Buhari campaign organization (BCO), Alhaji Danladi Pasali died.

His death was confirmed on Tuesday by his younger brother, Ali Pasali.

Danladi Pasali is said to have passed on in an Abuja Hospital, following a protracted illness.

The deceased was President Buhari’s campaign chief during the 2015 and 2019 general elections.

He served as National Secretary of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN) until his death.

He is survived by one wife and many children.

10. Ex-Lagos SSG – Adenrele Adeniran-Ogunsanya

The Former Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Princess Adeniran-Ogunsanya, died.

Daily Report Nigeria gathered that Adeniran-Ogunsanya, who served as Secretary to Lagos State Government during the first term in office of Babatunde Raji Fashola between 2007 and 2011, died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.

11. Former DESOPADEC Commissioner Tom Michael Binebai

A former commissioner representing Ijaw ethnic nationality on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Tom Michael Binebai passed on at the ripe age of 94.

Chief Binebai, mostly referred to as a sage, served as a DESOPADEC Commissioner from 2007 to 2008.

His demise was announced by his son, Professor Ben Binebai, a senior lecturer at the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State.

12. Deposed Deji Of Akure – Oba Adesina Adepoju

The Former Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Oluwa Azzdare Adepoju Adesina Died on Thursday, January, 27.

The deposed traditional ruler was said to have died after a brief illness in Abuja.

His death was announced in a statement issued by the family, Osupa Ruling House, and signed by the family’s spokesman, Prince Dapo Adesina.

13. Yoruba Leader, Olufemi Adegoke

The Chairman of pan-Yoruba intelligentsia group, Voice of Reason (VOR), hailed from Ondo Town in Ondo West Local Government Area.

According to a statement by Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Adegoke was described as a man of unquestionable character.

“He was an unparalleled patriot of the Yoruba people and an intellectual giant whose courage and candor goes beyond the cosmos”
