A man named Nkanu Patrick has been allegedly arrested for acting as a police officer. The fake policeman was arrested on Thursday by Ondo State Police Command.

The 50-year-old suspect was allegedly parading himself as an Assistant Superintendent of Police, according to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, on Thursday evening.

The PPRO also stated in the statement that the suspect was apprehended along the Benin-Ore Expressway last Wednesday.

“On the 23rd of February, 2022, at approximately 2.00 pm, a team of policemen attached to Ore Division who were on stop and search duty along the Benin/Ore Expressway intercepted a Volkswagen Mini Bus carrying pharmaceutical products en route Benin being escorted by the suspect in full Police camouflage.”

“His attire piqued the interest of the on-duty cops, who had to enquire further into his particulars.” “Investigation, however, revealed that the suspect, Nkanu Patrick, has never been a policeman but was close to policemen in his area,” he said when asked about his identity.

Odunlami stated that the suspect would be charged in court soon.
