Femi Falana, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and counsel to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has stated that the arrest of NLC President Joe Ajaero by the Department of State Services (DSS) is not connected to the earlier police invitation.

Ajaero had been invited by the police over matters related to a “threat to public peace,” but the invitation was later rescheduled.

However, Ajaero was arrested by DSS operatives on Monday morning while on his way to the United Kingdom to attend the ongoing TUC Conference.

Falana clarified that the arrest was not related to the police invitation and that no reason has been provided by the SSS for the arrest.
