Family of Nigerian Woman Killed by Italian Husband Demands Justice | Daily Report Nigeria

Family members of Rita Amenze, the Nigerian woman killed by her Italian husband have implored from the Nigerian and Italian governments that justice at its peak is meted on the case.

The family made the agitation at the visit of a delegation to sympathize with them on Tuesday in Benin.

The National Union of Nigerian Associations in Italy (NUNAI) and the Edo National Association in Italy (ENAI) were said to have expressed their heartfelt compassion through such delegation.

The Welfare Officer of NUNAI, Mr. Mike Oputteh, was said to have led the delegation.

Arriving at the deceased’s family house, the delegate met her 3 children who were sent back home from school due to failure to pay their school fee as NAN reported.

The family then seized the opportunity of the delegate’s visit on Tuesday in Benin to seek that the offender is brought to justice for the sake of the small kids left by the late.

Recall that Amenze, who returned to Italy from Nigeria was gunned down by Pierangelo Pellizar, her husband.

She was said to have been killed less than two weeks after her arrival in Italy for the reason of her filing for divorce.

The filing reportedly followed the claim that the deceased had come back to Nigeria to marry.

However, Mrs. Faith Oyahiagbon, the mother of the late debunked the claim and asked anyone to come forth with concrete evidence to prove such allegation.

Mrs. Faith’s claim was thereby corroborated by the statement of the father of those 3 kids of the deceased ( Mr. Frank Akpoguma).

The father of the kids said: “We didn’t marry either registry or traditional. Yes, we had children, there was nothing like a marriage between us.”

“I have my wife (pointing to a woman beside him) and we are happily married.”

“But Rita has been a source of survival for these children. She cared and catered for their upbringing and paid their school fees.”

“I really wish to appeal to the Federal Government, National Assembly, and the Association of Nigerians in Italy that just came that we want justice….. ”

Reacting to her daughter’s brutal death, Mrs Faith, therefore, lamented that she had lost her hope and the family’s breadwinner.

Also, Mrs Faith disclosed that she had developed high blood pressure since the death of her firstborn.

She had this to say: “Rita was my daughter and my firstborn for that matter. She was all I had.”

“She came home recently to see the children and we were all joyous. She had been in Italy for long just to seek a greener pasture.”

“Celebrate (her last-child) was six months old when she left her for me for upbringing.”

“We also departed joyously while she was returning only to receive the bad news about two weeks later that she was shot dead.”

Crying profusely, the woman added: “But I didn’t believe this until now that you all came. This looks like a film to me because how could I believe that a daughter that meant everything to me is dead.”
