Farmer Killed Over Land Dispute Between Ondo Communities | Daily Report Nigeria

A farmer identified simply as Toyo has been killed in Igbogini community, Apoi Kingdom, Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo State.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that Toyo was ambushed and macheted to death while working on his farm on Thursday June 6, 2024.

The incident has been linked to a lingering land dispute between Igbogini and Ode-Irele communities.

Confirming the incident, a youth leader in Apoi, Comrade Ebi Joshua Oluwolayemo narrated that the victim was attacked alongside others while they were working on the farm.

Mr. Olowolayemo said, “He left for the farm yesterday (Thursday) with some dependents and labourers and they were attacked. While others escaped, he was unlucky.

“When the cry got to the town, people mobilised, went in his search but couldn’t find him until today (Friday).

“His lifeless body was found dumped in a shallow pit,” he narrated.

The police was yet to comment on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
