The incident occurred days after 20 cows were allegedly poisoned on a nearby farm, a situation that had heightened tension in the community.
Family members of a farmer in Benue state have been thrown into a state mourning, following his demise.
According to reports, the deceased,a 54-year-old man identified as Jeremiah Onuminya collapsed after running for his life she to the alarm.
This happened in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to a source who confirmed the incident, Jeremiah was on his way to the farm when some youths in the community suddenly began to shout “Fulani! Fulani!!” in panic, Jeremiah attempted to flee, but slumped few meter to his house and died on the spot.

Confirming the incident while also expressing condolences to the family of the deceased, the Local Government Chairman, Melvin James said the deceased died after collapsing while trying to run.
In an effort to determine the exact cause of death, the chairman suggested an autopsy; however, the family declined, accepting that Mr. Onuminya’s passing resulted from health complications,” he added
