Fatman Scoop Dies After On-Stage Collapse

U.S. rapper Fatman Scoop has passed away, his family and manager announced on Saturday.

The 53-year-old artist suffered a medical emergency while performing on stage, which led to an outpouring of tributes from the hip-hop community.

Scoop, known for his hit songs “Be Faithful” and “It Takes Scoop,” collapsed during his performance at Hamden Town Center Park in Connecticut. He was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to revive him, as reported by U.S. media.

According to a video of the incident shared by TMZ, medical personnel attempted to administer CPR on stage before he was taken away on a stretcher.

His family expressed their grief in an Instagram post, saying, “It is with profound sadness and very heavy hearts that we share news of the passing of the legendary and iconic Fatman Scoop.” They added, “Fatman Scoop was known to the world as the undisputed voice of the club. His music made us dance and embrace life with positivity.”

His manager, Birch Michael, also confirmed Scoop’s death on Facebook, writing, “I love you Scoop. Thank you so much for everything you gave to me.”
