This was during a meeting with ex-military Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), in Minna, Niger State.

In a statement he personally signed, Fayose alleged that Makinde agreed to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and partner with Atiku as his vice-presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to Fayose, the meeting’s venue and participants were deliberately selected to ensure political confidence and broader acceptability.

He further claimed that Peter Obi was effectively sidelined during the discussions due to concerns that he would neither accept to serve as Atiku’s running mate nor gain acceptance in the North as a potential successor.

Fayose alleged that Atiku is “70 percent certain” of securing the ADC presidential ticket, having influenced the party’s decision not to zone its ticket.

He stated that Makinde’s agreement to join the ADC was conditional on being offered the vice-presidential slot, subject to ratification by Atiku’s inner caucus.

The former governor also claimed that Makinde pledged an initial N10 billion contribution, to be released in two tranches, to support the ADC’s mobilisation efforts, with additional funding to follow during the campaign period.

According to Fayose, Makinde assured Atiku of delivering Southwest delegates during the party primary and leveraging political ties in the South-South region.

He added that a follow-up meeting has reportedly been scheduled to take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, within the next two weeks.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Atiku, Makinde nor the ADC had publicly responded to Fayose’s claims.
