The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested one Yahaya Saleh for allegedly attempting to bribe police investigators with N1.5 million in a bid to secure the release of a suspected kidnapper currently under investigation.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that Saleh approached the officers handling the high-profile kidnapping case and offered the large sum as a bribe to compromise the investigation.

However, the officers rejected the offer and immediately took steps to arrest Yahaya, who is now in custody. The police say his actions were aimed at unlawfully facilitating the release of the suspect from lawful detention.
“The police investigators refused the offer and initiated legal procedures which led to Yahaya’s prompt arrest,” Adeh stated.
She also confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate involved in the case.
This development follows a recent crackdown by the FCT Police Command on suspected kidnappers who have been terrorizing parts of the nation’s capital.
