Federation Cup: Kwara Players Get ₦5m, Land; Abakaliki Players ₦1m Each

  • Kwara United won their first President Federation Cup and got ₦5m and land each.

  • They beat Abakaliki FC 4–3 on penalties after a tense goalless final.

  • Both teams got state rewards, proving the Cup still means a lot in Nigerian football.

Following a victory in the 2025 President Federation Cup, each player has pocketed ₦5 million and a plot of land.

The Harmony Boys defeated Abakaliki FC 4–3 on penalties to win their first cup under coach Tunde Sanni.

The victory followed a goalless draw after 120 minutes at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.

Celebrating their triumph, the team paraded the trophy around Ilorin streets.

Meanwhile, Kwara United will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup the following year.

On the other hand, runners-up Abakaliki FC each received ₦1 million from Governor Nwifuru Francis in addition to a ₦20 million cash award.

The kind gesture followed a remarkable run in which they defeated Enyimba, Nasarawa United, Katsina United, and Ikorodu City.

This exciting conclusion demonstrated the President Federation Cup’s ability to discover domestic talent and honour Nigerian football at its best.
