According to him, the government has also procured charging infrastructure to support the rollout and wider adoption of electric vehicles nationwide.
Osanipin added that the initiative is aimed at promoting cleaner mobility while creating opportunities for manufacturers within the country.
The council is also developing the Nnewi Automotive Development Park in Anambra State to provide shared infrastructure for vehicle manufacturers and component producers, reducing startup costs for investors.
He noted that the project would attract more players into the sector and accelerate industrial development.
The NADDC boss urged Nigerians to patronise locally assembled vehicles, stressing that it would boost job creation and economic growth.
He further revealed that the council is supporting local production of key components such as batteries and tyres through targeted training programmes.
Osanipin added that NADDC is working with the Bank of Industry to facilitate access to funding for industry stakeholders, while plans are underway to present a new bill to the National Assembly to strengthen the council’s operations.
