FG Declares Friday Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid

The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the government in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Congratulating the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and across the world, the minister said the Prophet’s life embodied the virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.

“These values remain essential in building a united, prosperous, and progressive nation,” he said.

Dr Tunji-Ojo also urged Nigerians of all faiths to use the occasion to pray for peace, security, and stability across the country.

He called for collective support of government efforts to strengthen national harmony and drive sustainable development.
