FG Inaugurates Committee to Enforce New Salaries for Civil Servants | Daily Report Nigeria

The Federal Government has inaugurated a 16-member committee to enforce the new salary adjustments for civil servants, following the recent hike in the national minimum wage.

The committee, led by Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, will negotiate consequential salary adjustments and develop an implementation template for the approved wage increase.

The inauguration marks a significant step in implementing the National Minimum Wage Act of 2024, which increased the minimum wage from N30,000 to N70,000.

The committee comprises representatives from the federal government and Trade Unions and is tasked with ensuring industrial peace and harmony within the public sector.

The move is seen as a critical step in fulfilling President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at eradicating poverty and fostering nationwide prosperity.

The committee’s formation is expected to boost the economic well-being of civil servants and ensure industrial peace and harmony within the public sector.

During the inauguration, Mrs. Walson-Jack emphasized the significance of the assignment and expressed confidence that the committee would execute it in the best interests of the public service and the nation.

The committee’s members include influential representatives from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, and key Trade Unions.
