FG Orders Withdrawal of Police From VIPS

The federal government has ordered the withdrawal of the mobile police force from some Very Important Persons (VIP) in Nigeria.

The affect key figures by the order include former prime ministers, former ministers, and members of parliament.

The order was contained in a police radio message from the Mopol 45 force headquarters in Abuja, which concerned former President Muhammadu Buhari’s brother, former First Lady Aisha Buhari’s brother, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Dahullah Daura Buhari, Boss Mustapha.

The officials affected by the withdrawal order were former governors of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim and Rochas Okorocha; former governor of Bauchi, Adamu Muazu; former governor of Gombe State, Danjuma Goje and former governors of Ogun and Zamfara states, Gbenga Daniel and Bello Mawalle, among others.

The order of the force headquarters regarding CB: 4001/DOPS/45PMF/FHQ/ABJ/VOL 15/353 signed by AIG MOPOL directed the addressees to implement the same immediately.

The recipients of the report were DSP Lauretta Iruonagbe; Yusuf Ishaq; Okeme Emmanuel; Ilesanmi Temidayo; Emmanuel Akaniro; Yakubu Francis; Chindo Atege; Zakari Mohammed and ASPs Osori Sani; Job Andrew; Iyabo Oluwadamilola, and Yakubu Anthony are believed to have been involved in some of the affected governments. contacts.

Daily Report Nigeria had reported a few weeks ago that the Inspector General (IG) of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, promised to remove VIP escort and security duties for personnel of the Police Mobile Unit.

Egbetokun had also announced plans to create a special intervention unit that he said would have 40,000 trained police officers, including officers from the police mobile unit.

He had explained that the withdrawal of PMF personnel from VIP escort and security duties was necessary for the police to regain its place in the “internal security architecture” of the country.

The move, he maintained, would allow more officers to focus on core policing duties such as investigations and patrolling.
