The Federal Government has approved the promotion of 95 senior officers across four major paramilitary agencies as part of a sweeping reform of Nigeria’s internal security structure.
The decision was reached during a board meeting of the Ministry of Interior, chaired by Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
The affected agencies include the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Disciplinary Measures for Erring Officers
In addition to the promotions, the board approved disciplinary sanctions against 224 officers found guilty of various offences.
“These resolutions are part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, discipline, and service delivery in the nation’s paramilitary system,” the statement noted.
Recruitment and Reforms Underway

The Minister announced that the online recruitment process into the four agencies will officially commence on Monday, July 14, 2025.
A committee is also being set up to develop a harmonised Scheme of Service to enhance efficiency and career progression within the paramilitary institutions.
The board further disclosed that the 2025 promotion exercise will kick off in August and is expected to conclude by November.
