Minister of Education, Olatunji Alausa, disclosed the development following strategic engagements with university leaders and investors during President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to the United Kingdom.
According to the plan, the proposed campus will be sited in Alaro City and will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM), Business, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Officials said degrees awarded at the Nigerian campus would be equivalent to those issued in the UK, ensuring global recognition for graduates.
Admissions are projected to commence between the third and fourth quarters of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
Speaking on the initiative, Alausa said it would reduce the financial burden of studying abroad while strengthening Nigeria’s human capital development.
“We want Nigerian parents to enjoy their children being at home while still receiving a world-class UK education,” he said.
The partnership, coordinated with the UK’s Department for Business and Trade, is also expected to position Nigeria as a regional hub for education, innovation and skills development.
