NMDPRA Executive Director Ogbugo Ukoha stated that retail petrol stations must stop encouraging the sale of products to black marketers, as it poses safety concerns.

The agency declared war against the illegal sale of petroleum products, especially petrol in jerrycans, and warned filling stations to desist from servicing illegal peddlers or face license suspension.

The fuel scarcity has persisted in many northern states despite promises from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to resolve the situation.

The NNPCL had attributed the fuel crisis to a hitch in discharge operations and bad weather.
