There are concerns that FIFA is planning to implement 18-team leagues globally, including in the Premier League.

According to the UK Sun, this move is linked to the expansion of the Club World Cup.

FIFA has already announced plans to host a 32-team tournament in the US next summer, with teams like Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Chelsea expected to participate.

However, clubs across Europe’s top leagues are voicing significant concerns about the impact this will have on players.

They fear that FIFA’s solution to manage player workload will involve reducing the number of teams in each league to 18, resulting in each club playing 34 games instead of the current 38.
