Throughout the game, the Swedish team displayed their superiority, creating numerous scoring opportunities and leaving some to wonder if they could have won by an even larger margin.

In contrast, Australia entered the match as underdogs.

Unfortunately for them, they conceded a penalty that led to Rolfo’s opening goal, followed by a remarkable long-range shot from Asllani, further extending Sweden’s lead.

Despite Sam Kerr’s standout performance earlier in the tournament, where she scored a sensational goal in the semi-final, the Swedish defence managed to silence her impact.

Kerr found it challenging to make effective plays beyond the penalty area due to the strong resilience of the Swedish defenders.

Kerr’s absence as a playmaker left the Matildas struggling to establish a coherent rhythm throughout the game, making it difficult for them to create meaningful chances.

As the Women’s World Cup journey comes to an end, Australia will reflect on the excitement and challenges they encountered.

On the other hand, Sweden’s players will return home with well-deserved bronze medals in hand.
