Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has acknowledged that the Benin Republic Squirrels will be brimming with confidence heading into their match against Nigeria today, following their morale-boosting 1-0 win over Rwanda.

The victory against Rwanda marked Benin’s first in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. In contrast, the Super Eagles are still seeking their first win after three consecutive draws.

Finidi noted that the Super Eagles will be up against a confident team at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.

“They just won their last match, so their morale will be very high,” he said. “We need to travel today, get to Abidjan, and have our training session. We know tomorrow is the match and we’ll see how we have to play.”

The match is set to kick off at 5 p.m. Nigerian time.
