On Saturday, Kaduna city was thrown into disarray after a fire destroyed the home of controversial Islamic scholar Sheikh Gumi.
According to reports, the fire destroyed the Islamiyya school, which is located near the Alimi neighborhood in the city’s heart.
The Islamiyya school also housed the residence of the fiery Islamic cleric who was frequently associated with banditry.

According to a source who requested anonymity, there was thick smoke coming from the buildings, forcing other residents in the area to go get water to put out the fire.
“We just noticed smoke coming from one of the classes.”
We immediately drew the attention of those nearby and began gathering water to prevent the fire from spreading to other places.”
